The deadline to apply for the FIRST Future Innovator Award presented by the Abbott Fund, has been extended to March 30th!
Not only does this award celebrate one of our core tenets – innovation – it’s also our first ever cross-program award. Individuals from both FRC teams and FTC teams are eligible to win. On top of that, it comes with a pretty nice prize – two of the inventors listed on the winning submission, along with an adult chaperone, will have their airfare and hotel to Championship paid for (if their team is not already attending) so they can receive their trophy in person, plus they will be flown out to Silicon Valley to meet with a venture capital firm at a later date. This travel is being paid for by the Abbott Fund.
Teams shouldn’t be intimidated by the thought of meeting with the venture capital firm – even if their innovations are not the type one of these firms would be interested in, this is still a tremendous opportunity to learn how these organizations work first hand. I would hope our winners would be asking as many questions as they are being asked.
